Cold Bodies. Warm Service.

The Zombie Bar is a comfortable little virtual dive bar that welcomes both the living and the dead. I know it's a little smoky in here, but if you can make your way through the dark, past the sexy vamps, regular ghouls, and local zombies, you'll find conversations ranging from booze to bars, zombies to vampires, gothic to industrial, horror movies to hard rock. Gothic nightclubs, monster movies, Great Cthulhu, Voodoo rituals, and your favorite whiskey (or beer, or wine, or Chartreuse) are all good topics in this joint. Enjoy!

Below are 20 journal entries, after skipping by the 20 most recent ones recorded in zombiebar's LiveJournal:

Just a reminder that prices for Convergence go up to $75 tonight at midnight, so get your tickets now and save $10 (which at New Orleans prices is about 3 drinks!)

Go to right now and get your tickets for the hottest event of the year.

10 bands
12 DJs
2 Fashion shows
37 Vendors
A huge artshow
Film room
3 days of panels

So don't miss out on the fun! Get your tickets now!

And just FYI, I'm setting up some more deals with area hotels that we will be offering all attendees. I'll be announcing that in a few days. So don't fret if you didn't get into the Monteleone in time.

Combichrist, Rasputina, Bella Morte, and more
The final band list for Convergence XII Voodoo Redux is now out!

Bella Morte
Anders Manga
Kali Yuga
Kooper Kain
HMB (Daniel Myer/Victoria Loyd)
and Voltaire

This is going to be an awesome show... if you haven't booked your hotel, do it! There is very limited space at the Hotel Monteleone, though we will be overflowing to Bienville House, which is also very nice, for the same discounted rate.

Also, this is a great time to book your air travel... there are finally some truly cheap fares to NOLA. To see what I mean, go to the Convergence XII home page, and select your city from the dropdown list towards the top of the page.

If you still need to buy your badges, what are you waiting for! Buy 'em now, while they're still cheap... before March 31, it's only $65 for all four days of live music, vendors, art show, fashion shows, and partying. Buy your ticket here and be sure to enter CON12-W2K6H-PY17H in the badge code box to get a few bucks off the already low price.

So, who's coming?

So, there is a new MMO zombie game in development: Exanimus.
Looks like this might be the game to get me into MMOs, now that Stargate : The Alliance game is cancelled.

From their site:

Exanimus is an online massively multiplayer game created in a world where the dead live and roam the earth eating the flesh of the living. While most of the world is dead, there are small pockets of survivors that exist in barricaded cities across the globe. Players of Exanimus will have the option of playing as a living survivor or as one of the dead roaming the earth. Exanimus will allow players to experience a MMO based in a horror genre by creating a dark and visually "intense" environment.
Exanimus is expected to be rated "Mature" and not intended for anyone under the age of 18.

Exanimus is currently in pre-production, but we are working right now to build our website for everyone to visit and learn more about our game. It is our hope to integrate our community heavily in the development of the game, so we invite everyone to keep checking in for news and updates. We have many surprises in store and hope everyone will be as excited as we are for this new type of MMO.

also, i have a question. do you think Frankenstein was a zombie? why or why not?

i think he was just for the fact that he was a re-animated corpse. but he wasnt just a corpse, he was many sewn together. and, if he bit a living human, they wouldnt in turn become the walking dead. he also wasnt blood-thirsty or a voodoo slave. thats where my question is. do those things matter enough to disqualify him?

New bands playing Convergence this year...
The C12 committee just announced Rasputina, Voltaire, Anders Manga, Kali Yuga, Bella Morte, and Kooper Kain, in addition to the already announced HMB, Stromkern, and Attrition!

Looking at the on-line schedule at the C12 site, it looks like there's at least one more band in the works, but that's quite a lineup already.

Who is already planning on coming to Convergence in New Orleans?

I believe there are still tickets left for the main event (and if you buy them soon, you can use the badge code CON12-W2K6H-PY17H to get a few bucks off the badge price), plus they've opened up more seats at the previously sold-out formal Tea Party, but I understand it's a very limited number of seats, so if you want to attend the Tea Party, you best get that wrangled, soon.

All this from the news on the home page.

Hopefully some of you Zombie Barflys are going to be able to make it out in April... if you can, pop me a note so we can meet for drinks!

Night of the Living Dead re-enacted in 30 seconds by bunnies

BTW Who's coming to Convergence in New Orleans?

If you haven't bought your ticket yet, I've got a code you can use to get a couple bucks off the ticket price. When you buy your badge, put CON12-W2K6H-PY17H in the badge code field, or just click here to go there with it pre-filled.

It looks like it's going to be a blast. Already, Attrition, HMB (Victoria from Claire Voyant and Daniel Myer from Haujobb!), and Stromkern are playing, with about five more bands, I think. Can't wait to see HMB! They sound fairly awesome, from what clips I've heard.

Last day to buy tickets at low price
Make one of your New Year's resolutions to get tickets to Convergence XII!

Don't forget, Dec 31st, is the last day to buy your tickets for Convergence XII at the low price of $55.

Unfortunately, the seance has sold out... but don't miss out on the tea party... seating is greater there, so tickets are still available, but they're going fast. Hurry and get them before they sell out.

Have a Happy New Year!

Medieval monster invades high school
Amidst the various frustrations of trying to keep our business running here in New Orleans, there are nonetheless some bright points here and there for the company. For example, we just made a class of high school students in Napa, CA very happy...

A ravenous monster attacks a class of studious, but stylish, bookworms! See the disturbing photo behind the cut!Collapse )

[edit] Ah, right... if that picture doesn't make sense, check out the shirt here.

Plus, (yes, like the magazine Fangoria) is all about the Sigh Co.... check it out and click on... oh, just about any of the clothing-related categories... and, most of the barware bears our designs also.

The Weirder the Better
Let me introduce myself, I make, rent, and sell horror and haunted house props in Los Angeles. I have corpses, body parts, bones, and headstones piled on every flat surface and crammed into every crevace of my house. My neighbors have called the cops on me on multiple occasions, including one full out SWAT team because I have a tendancy to take my work home with me.
It's a good life though, I've worked on some of the weirdest projects imaginable, and chatted with the folks who do the real creepy work.
So I want the live journal community to know, if you ever need to buy a dead body, or maybe just rent one for the weekend, I'm your man. Go ahead, ask for anything, the weirder the better.
I also perform in some of these B movies. Here's a shot of me in the new "Night of the Living Dead 3D"

And I drive a hearse that's been used in all kinds of productions, including one porn.

I'm also a total flickr junky, and started a community for scream queens and other beautiful horrors.

So that's my introduction, stay tuned for updates on all manner of B movies in production and whatever atrocities I'm cooking up in my shop.

Convergence XII news
For those of you that haven't heard, Convergence XII is a go, here in New Orleans. You'll never attend a more fun, outrageous show... plus, it's tailor made for the dark at heart and is Voodoo-themed (New Orleans could us a little good mojo, especially now), for all you Zombieheads.

If you're a purveyor of fine goods, you can now sign up for vending space in the vendors' bazaar. The deal is especially good this year, since 8x8 booths cost only a little more than what a plain 6' table space in previous years cost, and unlike most previous years at Convergence, now they include two show badges. However, the dealer room is not huge, so if you want a spot, I recommend you send in your application soon. More details and all the necessary links are in the letter from our Chairmain below.

After a brief delay due to Natural Disaster, the site is back and better than ever.

With many apologizes for the delay, the vendor signup is now ONLINE and accepting spots to vend at our vendor's bazaar, April 15 - April 16. Spots are limited and will fill up quickly, so please get your application and deposit in as soon as possible. A few notes about it this year, the basic price of $300 covers the entire weekend, an 8’ x 8’ space with one 6' table, one chair and TWO badges. Currently, we accept paypal, check, or money order as payment. Credit card payments will be available soon.

Also, band and DJ submissions are back online. The submission deadline is January 15, 2006. Announcements will go out after that. So, get your submissions in as soon as possible to avoid a delay. Don't put your submission off to the last minute. No submission received AFTER January 15 will be accepted.

Most of our events have survived the terrible devastation of Katrina and remain intact, we will, of course, be offering several charity events to allow everyone who is so inclined to volunteer time or money to help restore this beautiful and historic city. However those are still in the planning stages, but rest assured there will be several. If you have any suggestions for charity functions we can offer, please feel free to drop us a line.

Of course, you can participate in our livejournal community or check us out on Myspace for timely updates to Convergence 12 (the little Convergence that could).

Mission partially accomplished
Good news everyone! From the sales of the Katrina Hurricane relief t-shirts, we were able to donate $270 to the Louisiana Disaster Recovery Foundation and $270 to the Tipitina's New Orleans Artist Relief Fund. That's a total of $540. Not bad. But it could be better.

If you bought a shirt, thank you! you've done your part! Now we need you to spread the word and let other people know about it. It would be great if we could make this kind of donation every week. Since the initial wave has passed, sales have slacked off. It would really help if everyone put a banner in their livejournal, on their home page, and sent an e-mail to their friends, families, co-workers (where appropriate) and encouraged them to do the same to help spread the word.

Just posting this link: in your livejournal will mean that more people will see it. If you have a web site and want to put a banner up, there is handy dandy code at the bottom of that page (I know some of you have already done this - thank you!).

Again, thank you for being supportive. We hope to get our city back sooner rather than later!

Help us to help Rebuild New Orleans
Sorry for the info x-post...

The Zombie Bar appears to be alive (or something) and well, despite the current state of disaster in New Orleans. Sigh Co. Graphics, our T-shirt company that is based in New Orleans, is finally up and running enough, at a temporary office in Dallas, to be able to offer the benefit shirt that we've been talking about for a couple weeks. We are donating a full half of the purchase price of our new "Rebuild New Orleans" T-shirt to two local charities: Tipitina's Artist Relief Fund (to help bring back the music) and the Louisiana Disaster Recovery Fund (a sort of clearing house for local charities). Each will get a full $5 from us, when you buy the shirt - we're donating $10 total for each shirt we sell.

We want our home back the way it was, so, so badly. We're asking for your help here... buy a shirt. Tell your friends to buy a shirt. Post a link to our information page at in your LJ, Friendster, MySpace page. We're trying to make a real difference here, not just make a buck (if you want to help us specifically, buy a Rebuild New Orleans shirt, plus one of our normal shirts - that will help us considerably), and anything you can do to help spread the word, will help New Orleans recover.

For more information, and for a list of selected funds that you can donate to directly, see our Sigh Co. Graphics Rebuild New Orleans page. On that page, you can also get this banner, if you'd like to help us out by posting it on your Web site.

Thanks for your time.
